Gdybym był turystą, który patrzy, kierując się przewodnikami, wybiera słynne zabytki i to, co kluczowe, nigdy nie dotarłbym do Alamedy, chyba że myląc linię metra. Nie widziałbym tych ludzi, włączającej się fontanny, z której kaskada wody spada, wypełniając plac przyjemnym szumem. To wszystko umknęłoby mojej uwadze. Czekałbym na żółty tramwaj, sprawdzając gorączkowo, ile tak zwanych must see zostało jeszcze do obejrzenia. Zwiedzanie to jedna ze strategii poznawania. Ta metoda najbardziej przypomina miejskie safari. Kiedy doświadczanie przestrzeni pokrywa się już ze wszystkimi atrakcjami wymienionymi w przewodniku, miasto można uznać za zdobyte.
Słuchanie nie podlega takim kryteriom. Wykracza poza mapy, przewodniki, aplikacje. W mieście, w powietrzu unoszą się swobodnie dźwięki niezwiązane z presją kolekcjonowania wrażeń i niekończącej się gonitwy.

Had I been a tourist whose seeing is directed by guidebooks, choosing renowned monuments and key-notes, I would have never reached Alameda, unless I mistook a line of the Metro. I’d not have seen these people, the starting fountain, water cascading from it and filling the square with its agreeable murmuring. All those things would have escaped my attention. For hours, I would have been waiting for the yellow tram, frantically checking how many more ’unmissable attractions’ I had left to see. Tourism is one strategy of making the acquaintance. Most reminiscent of an urban safari. Once the experience of space has been completely covered with every attraction listed in the guidebook, the conquest of the city can be concluded.
